The brands we carry

Falcon supplies Commax and Farfisa intercom systems alongside IP door stations. Commax covers the bulk of residential requirements from simple audio handsets up to colour video units. Farfisa is strong on multi-apartment building systems. IP door stations suit new compounds where calls should forward to a phone anywhere.

Audio or video?

Audio is cheaper and adequate where the entrance is already covered by a camera. Video lets you see a visitor before opening, which matters most for villas, ground-floor apartments and any door opening directly onto the street. For families with children at home alone it is not a luxury.

Wiring decides more than the brand does

Two-wire systems carry power, audio, video and the lock signal on a single pair, which makes them the practical choice for retrofitting an occupied building where pulling new cable through apartments is impossible. Four-wire and multi-wire systems suit new construction. IP intercom runs on the building network, forwards calls to a mobile app, and scales to hundreds of units.

Scaling with apartment count

A two-apartment villa and a forty-apartment block are different problems. Above a certain number of units you need a digital door station with a keypad rather than a panel of buttons, plus floor distributors. Ask early what happens when two visitors call two different apartments at once — inexpensive systems simply block.

The door station is exposed hardware

It sits outside in sun and rain within reach of anyone. A vandal-resistant metal panel, a weather shield and a position out of direct sun materially extend its life. A plastic panel in full Egyptian summer sun is a two-year component.

The fault we are called out for most

"The intercom works but the door will not open." It is almost never the intercom. Electric locks draw a large momentary current, and an undersized supply or thin cable drops the voltage so the lock buzzes without releasing. We give the lock a dedicated supply and correct cable gauge from the start.

Forwarding calls to a mobile

IP systems forward the door call to an app so you can see and speak to a visitor while away — genuinely useful for deliveries and for a home empty during the day. We keep the indoor handset as the primary device, because the app depends on an internet connection and the door should not.
